Aargau court allows two alleged victims to stay in Switzerland

The Aargau Administrative Court has ruled that two Polish women who are alleged victims in a serious sexual offence case may remain in Switzerland, SRF reported. The canton’s migration office had sought their removal.

The case concerns a former Aargau cantonal parliamentarian from the Swiss People’s Party who has been charged with very serious sexual offences against two former partners and a minor. He is alleged to have drugged, abused and raped his victims, in some cases over several years.

The court found that one of the women had entered an employment relationship with the former parliamentarian as a housekeeper. Despite their personal relationship, the court said, this was not a sham employment arrangement.

The canton of Aargau has also ordered an external investigation into the case in Untersiggenthal. It will examine how the protection of the two foreign victims was ensured, whether the authorities involved acted improperly and whether they had the necessary information when making their decisions.
