Pedestrian dies in Gerasdorf as driver crashes into shop window

A pedestrian was fatally injured after being hit by a truck in Gerasdorf bei Wien in the Korneuburg district on Tuesday afternoon, ORF reported. The crash happened on Gerasdorfer Straße at the border between Lower Austria and Vienna. The woman died at the scene.

Emergency services, including police and rescuers, arrived within minutes. Police said the cause of the accident had yet to be determined.

Driver flown to hospital after crash

At noon in Pottenstein in the Baden district, a driver was injured after her car crashed into the shop window of a residential and commercial building.

For reasons that remain unclear, she apparently drove through a stop sign at an intersection before hitting the opposite wall head-on. Witnesses gave first aid and called emergency services. A former municipal doctor also assisted paramedics with the initial medical treatment.

The woman was flown to hospital by emergency helicopter. Firefighters prevented vehicle fluids from entering a stormwater drain and recovered the car. The cause of that crash also remains unclear.
