Graz Airport is auctioning retired vehicles and equipment, ORF reports. Interested buyers can bid until August 31 on items including passenger buses, boarding stairs, container transporters and battery chargers.

A fire engine is among the auction’s featured items. Graz Airport has held the auctions since 2022, giving older equipment the chance to remain in use while newer models improve the efficiency of airport operations.

Airport managing directors Wolfgang Grimus and Jürgen Löschnig said the equipment is regularly inspected and maintained to extend its usable life. However, the airport must continue to modernise in order to meet legal requirements.

They said the auctions help prevent the waste of resources and provide a small financial contribution to the airport’s budget.
