A 29-year-old canyoning guide was injured in a fall at the Alpenrosenklamm gorge in Haiming, in the Imst district, ORF reported.
The Austrian had been descending on a fixed rope late Monday morning when the rope’s outer sheath suddenly tore. The abseiling device then stopped working, and he fell six to seven metres onto the rocks, police said.
A rescue helicopter crew recovered the guide using a winch. He was then flown to a clinic in Innsbruck.
