A 17-year-old e-scooter rider crashed into a metal column in Salzburg while under the influence of alcohol and drugs, ORF reported. A police patrol noticed the teenager after he fell on the cycle path at Giselakai.
The rider told police he had been looking backwards while travelling and failed to see the column. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered injuries of unspecified severity. The Red Cross took him to an accident hospital.
1.5 promille and positive drug test
A breathalyser test at the hospital showed a blood alcohol level of 1.5 promille. A drug test was positive for opiates.
Police also reported the teenager because the e-scooter was not fully equipped as required and had a defective brake.
