Carinthia, flight delays, Vienna Airport

A Carinthian family has been stranded at Vienna Airport since Sunday morning after its flight to Hurghada, Egypt, was repeatedly delayed, ORF Kärnten reported. The family was due to travel with AlMasria Universal Airlines.

Daniel Wornik, his pregnant wife and their four-year-old daughter had been at the airport for more than 24 hours when he contacted ORF Kärnten. He described the conditions as inhumane.

Wornik said around 30 passengers, including several families with young children, were facing the same problem. The flight was initially scheduled for 12.30 p.m. on Sunday, but passengers were later told it would depart at 12.30 a.m. It has since been postponed four times, with the latest departure time set for 8.30 p.m.

According to Wornik, passengers were directed to an AAS counter, which was apparently responsible for ground handling for the airline. He said they were told that no food would be provided and were dismissed.

The passengers were eventually given a hotel room and dinner on Sunday, but no food during the day. They were not given a reason for the extreme delay, Wornik said.

AlMasria Universal Airlines is a private Egyptian airline based at Cairo Airport.
