Fire destroys hunting lodge during Steeg forest fire response

A fire destroyed a hunting lodge in Steeg in the Lechtal valley on Monday morning, with nearby trees also catching fire, ORF reported.

The wooden building was fully ablaze when the fire spread to several trees at around 9:30 a.m. Seven fire brigades and a helicopter were temporarily involved in the firefighting operation.

The response was scaled back late in the morning. No information was initially available about the cause of the fire.

A forest fire in Steeg had already triggered a major firefighting operation on Saturday.
