15-year-old scooter rider hits police officer while fleeing

A 15-year-old riding an electric scooter with another person on a pavement in Klagenfurt collided with a police officer while trying to escape a stop on Saturday evening, ORF Kärnten reported.

Police officers attempted to stop the teenager at about 9 p.m., but he initially evaded them. Another patrol then overtook the scooter, and an officer stepped into its path on the pavement.

The teenager did not stop in time despite being ordered to do so, resulting in the collision. Both the teenager and the officer suffered minor injuries.

The teenager will be reported to the public prosecutor’s office on suspicion of attempted resistance against state authority. According to the police report, he also faces several administrative offence reports.
