Train kills man collecting deposit bottles on railway tracks

A 45 year old man was killed by a passing train at Liesing station on Saturday while searching for deposit bottles, ORF reported.

Police said the man had entered the railway area without permission. Witnesses said he had been looking for deposit bottles at the station and climbed onto the tracks.

The station was evacuated and train services were temporarily suspended. Vienna’s State Traffic Department is investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
