Police arrest suspect after Salzburg snack stand break-in and knife attack

Police in Salzburg arrested a 23-year-old Russian man after a snack stand in the city centre was broken into and a separate confrontation ended with an 18-year-old man being injured with a knife, ORF reported.

An unknown offender broke into the snack stand on Giselakai early in the morning, ransacked the premises and stole food. He also tried to force open the cash register before escaping undetected.

Shortly afterwards, police were called to a nearby flat, where a physical confrontation had escalated. Two young Russian men had reportedly attacked each other, and one of them allegedly injured the other with a knife.

The 18-year-old victim managed to flee to a neighbouring flat and alert police. Officers found the stolen food from the snack stand at the alleged attacker’s flat and arrested the 23-year-old.
