Two girls reanimated after accident at Heimstettener See

Two girls suffered life-threatening injuries in a bathing accident at Heimstettener See, a lake near Munich, on Saturday afternoon, BR reported.

Bathers, the water rescue service and firefighters pulled the eight-year-old and 15-year-old from the lake. They had been underwater for an undetermined length of time.

Both girls were immediately resuscitated. One was taken to hospital by rescue helicopter and the other by ambulance.

Police said the exact circumstances of the accident remain under investigation. Relatives at the scene were supported by a crisis intervention team.
