Fortnite professionals compete in Vienna for 50,000 euros

Forty international Fortnite professionals are competing in the Red Bull Reshuffle tournament at Vienna’s Austria Center, ORF reports. The six-round event forms new two-player teams for each round, with the player who performs best individually winning 50,000 euros.

Among the participants are well-known Fortnite players Mr. Savage, Mongraal and Vadeal, as well as Austria’s Vico. According to the organisers, Vico recently won the Fortnite Championship Series Summit in Düsseldorf and is currently regarded as the Fortnite world champion.

Although players compete in changing teams, they are scored individually. Points are awarded for finishing positions and eliminating opponents. The player with the most points at the end will be named the best team player.

Fans can also create a so-called Wings Team from their favourite players. The remaining teams are selected at random for each round.

The tournament is aimed at professional players but is also intended to offer a live experience for Fortnite fans and Austria’s gaming community. Organisers describe it as Austria’s first major public-facing professional esports tournament, extending beyond the online competitions held to date.

About 1,000 spectators can watch the event in the Austria Center’s main hall, where the action will be shown on large screens. Livestreams will also be available in German, hosted by YouTuber Amar, and in English for international viewers. The event begins at 3 p.m., and admission costs 20 euros.
