A 17-year-old moped rider fled from police on Friday after officers tried to stop him for riding without a number plate, ORF reported. Police also suspected he was impaired by drugs.
The rider was travelling on the L7 near Kasbach shortly after 2 p.m. when officers attempted to stop him. He ignored further attempts to pull him over and initially drove towards Maurach at moderate speed.
In the built-up area of Eben am Achensee, he accelerated and continued towards Wiesing on the B181 Achensee Road. Police said he drove at times well above the speed limit and made dangerous overtaking manoeuvres before a complete closure of the B181 brought him to a stop.
The Austrian teenager refused to be examined by an official doctor because of the suspected drug impairment, police said. Officers confiscated his driving licence at the scene.
