Police say missing Israeli tourists left Austria

Friday 14th August 2026 on 20:45 in Austria

Israel, missing persons, Vienna

The two Israeli tourists who had been missing in Vienna for a week left Austria on their own, the Vienna State Police Directorate said on Friday, according to ORF.

The women, a 50-year-old mother and her 23-year-old daughter, had travelled to Vienna as tourists via Prague. The Israeli Embassy had appealed for information about their whereabouts on social media and in a press release.

Police said their investigation, conducted with Austrian, Israeli and other international security authorities, had found no indication of a violent crime. The women were last seen on 7 August at accommodation they had booked in Vienna’s Margareten district. They did not board their scheduled return flight to Israel on Tuesday, despite having a confirmed booking, and the room was reportedly empty when police checked it.
