Three injured in separate motorcycle crashes in Vorarlberg

Three people were injured in two motorcycle crashes in Vorarlberg on Friday, ORF reported. One motorcyclist was hurt in Lauterach after colliding with a car, while a separate crash on the L200 road near Alberschwende-Müselbach injured a motorcyclist and a car driver.

The crash near Alberschwende happened at about 11.30 a.m. Several vehicles were involved after a car driver reversed from a parking space onto the road, forcing following vehicles to brake sharply, police said.

A 72-year-old motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and hit the rear of a car driven by a 19-year-old. He then collided with an oncoming car driven by an 81-year-old woman before falling onto the road.

The motorcyclist and the 81-year-old driver suffered injuries of undetermined severity. After receiving first aid at the scene, both were taken to hospital by ambulance. The motorcycle was destroyed, while both cars sustained significant damage. Breath alcohol tests on all those involved were negative.

Later on Friday afternoon, a 53-year-old motorcyclist was injured in Lauterach. A 76-year-old woman was turning from Staufnerweg onto Bundesstraße when her car collided with the approaching motorcycle.

Police said the motorcyclist tried to avoid the crash by braking hard and swerving, but was unable to prevent the collision. He was taken to Bregenz State Hospital. Both vehicles were damaged, and preliminary breath alcohol tests were negative.
