New forest fire breaks out in St. Egyden

A forest fire has broken out again in the Föhrenwald forest in St. Egyden am Steinfeld, in the Neunkirchen district, ORF reported on Friday. Firefighters are conducting a large-scale operation.

Initial reports said the fire could spread towards the B26 and a residential settlement. One settlement was reportedly evacuated, and several roads were reportedly closed.

The fire service has so far confirmed only that a fire is burning. Officials have released few details because of the urgency of the operation.

Firefighters had battled a forest fire in the same location for five days only recently.
