Crazy Cheese assets go under the hammer after insolvency

Goods and equipment from Austrian cheese maker Crazy Cheese will be auctioned after the company’s insolvency, ORF reported on Thursday. The auction includes 660 items from the company’s headquarters in Hart bei Graz, including cheese, furnishings, decorations, luxury goods and collectibles.

The company group led by Roland Ludomirska filed for insolvency in July after building the Crazy Cheese brand over six years with products such as “Black Diamond” and “Horny Buck.”

The auction catalogue includes office and IT equipment, a bar, standing tables and bar stools, champagne glasses, caviar tins, chandeliers, a glittering disco ball and a handmade champagne sabre. Marketing items such as sunglasses, T-shirts, cooking aprons and Bluetooth speakers in the Crazy Cheese design are also available, along with several Star Wars collectibles.

Cheese wheels are being offered both as brightly coloured decorative items and as food from the company’s cold storage. While the cheese previously sold for at least 20 euros per 100 grams, the starting price is now 20 to 25 euros for a 10-kilogram wheel. Other items include cheese domes, cutting boards, graters, slicing and vacuum-packing machines, and scales.

Bidders must register once with the Aurena auction house. Bids are already open, while the items can be inspected on August 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Crazy Cheese headquarters in Hart bei Graz. The first auction awards will take place on August 24 from 11 a.m.

Interest is expected to be strong after a recent auction of old ski-lift seats at Kreischberg attracted a rush of buyers.
