The Albula railway line operated by the Rhaetian Railway is currently blocked after a landslide in Val Bever, SRF reported. The line is expected to remain closed to rail traffic until at least 10 p.m. on Thursday, based on current information.

Cleanup work has already begun. The landslide was apparently triggered by a local thunderstorm on Wednesday evening. The extent of the damage to the tracks is also due to be assessed on Thursday. It is not yet clear how long repairs will take.

According to the Swiss Federal Railways website, the PEBEX service between Chur and Samedan is disrupted. The IR38 and RE38 services between Preda and Samedan are also affected. Passengers should expect delays, cancellations and diversions.

Bernina Express and Glacier Express trains, along with freight services, are being rerouted via the Vereina line.
