Health authorities investigate 20 Legionella cases near Linz

Health authorities are investigating 20 Legionella cases in Linz and surrounding areas, ORF Upper Austria reports. The source of the infections remains unknown, while the spread of the disease has slowed.

Five people are still receiving hospital treatment, including two in intensive care. Legionella is a serious bacterial infection that can cause pneumonia.

Authorities have collected more than 100 samples from various locations, including private homes and workplaces. The first results are expected later this week.

Investigators are examining whether the infections share a common source. Those affected include a holidaymaker and a person who was staying in Linz for work.
