A 64-year-old cyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a car in Graz’s Puntigam district on Tuesday morning, ORF reported. Police said the 70-year-old driver likely failed to see the cyclist while turning right into a business entrance.

The crash happened at about 7:45 a.m. on Puntigamer Straße towards the Südgürtel. The driver was turning near a construction site and crossed the cycle path beside the road.

The cyclist hit the car, fell and remained seriously injured on the road. Witnesses and the driver provided first aid and alerted emergency services. The Red Cross took the cyclist to LKH Graz hospital with serious leg injuries.

Last week, a heavily intoxicated e-scooter rider was injured in a separate crash on the same section of road. The 44-year-old lost control and hit his head against a car waiting in a queue.
