Police pursue leads after fatal Carinthia hit-and-run

Police are following numerous public tips after a fatal hit-and-run near Traundorf on Sunday morning, ORF reported. Investigators are also appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The 20-year-old victim had been walking towards St. Michael ob Bleiburg after attending a fire brigade festival in St. Stefan near Globasnitz when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle near Traundorf. The driver fled the scene.
During a renewed examination of the crash site, the Carinthia State Criminal Police Office’s crime-scene unit secured several small vehicle parts. They are now being examined by forensic specialists.
Police are also reviewing numerous video recordings and checking possible vehicles. Investigators believe the vehicle being sought suffered serious damage to its front end. Locating it remains a central focus of the investigation, police said.
