Police seize 30 driving licences at Burgenland festivals

Police temporarily seized 30 driving licences during traffic checks at two festivals in Burgenland last weekend, ORF reported. Officers found several drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs at the Picture On Festival in Bildein, in Güssing district, and the One Love Festival in Wiesen, in Mattersburg district.
At the Picture On Festival, officers checked 371 drivers. They carried out 324 preliminary alcohol tests, 12 breathalyser tests, eight preliminary saliva tests, 14 urine tests and three clinical examinations.
Three drivers were identified as being impaired by drugs. One driver had a blood alcohol level above 0.8 promille, while another had more than 0.5 promille. Four driving licences were temporarily seized.
At the One Love Festival, officers checked around 340 drivers and stopped 30 people who were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Twenty-four drivers, including seven women, were impaired by drugs. Two drivers refused to be taken for an examination by an official doctor.
Four drivers, including one man and three women, had blood alcohol levels above 0.8 promille. Police temporarily seized 26 driving licences at the festival.
Police also filed 15 additional reports, issued seven on-the-spot penalty notices and seized one number plate because of an immediate danger.
