Burgenland clinics treated more patients in 2025

The four hospitals in the Gesundheit Burgenland network treated more patients in 2025, ORF reported Monday. A total of 35,289 people were admitted for inpatient care, an increase of 0.36 percent from 2024.
Outpatient treatments rose by 8.22 percent to 183,066. The hospitals also carried out 20,577 operations and recorded 948 births.
Revenue increased from 309.4 million euros to 337.9 million euros, Governor Hans Peter Doskozil of the Social Democratic Party said. The province provides 200 million euros from its budget each year to operate the clinics.
Gesundheit Burgenland CEO Florian Schlechtleitner said all nursing positions were filled. Given the shortage of skilled workers across Austria, he said, this was “anything but a matter of course.”
The four hospitals in Kittsee, Oberwart, Oberpullendorf and Güssing had a combined 633 beds. They employed 2,792 people in 2025, while patients stayed for an average of 4.64 days.
