Rescuers found two missing mountaineers unharmed in Carinthia, while a separate search for a 66-year-old German hiker was suspended overnight and will resume on Monday, ORF reported.
The man’s wife raised the alarm on Sunday evening after he failed to return as agreed from a hike on Mirnock mountain in the Villach-Land district. Twenty-eight rescuers and four search dogs took part in the operation into the night.
On Hochalmspitze in the Ankogel group, in the Lieser-Maltatal valley in the Spittal an der Drau district, rescuers spotted the two missing mountaineers late in the evening as they descended. Both were unharmed and in good condition.
Also on Sunday evening, concerned parents reported their 14-year-old daughter missing in Villach. She returned on her own and had apparently been out for a walk longer than planned.
