A 65-year-old man in Wels rode his bicycle while intoxicated twice on Saturday evening, despite police having already stopped him, ORF reported.

Police first noticed the man at about 10.15 p.m. on Hessenstraße. He was riding without lights, and officers found that he was intoxicated. An alcohol test recorded 1.06 per mille.

The officers told him that he was no longer allowed to ride. The man reacted angrily but initially pushed his bicycle away.

Shortly afterwards, police saw him riding again near Kaiser-Josef-Platz. When they stopped him, he again became hostile. Police said he even tried to push his bicycle towards their car.

The man refused to take another alcohol test, telling the officers: “You can get lost!”

To prevent him from riding away again, the officers secured the bicycle with a lock. The 65-year-old will be reported.
