Tyrol opens applications for €15,000 literature grants

Tyrol’s state government has opened applications for its biennial literature grants, each worth €15,000, ORF reported. The current call covers poetry and drama, including radio plays and original screenplays, for 2027 and 2028.

Writers can apply for a grant lasting up to two years. Applicants must have a close connection to Tyrol, for example through their origins or the content of their literary project. Each writer may submit one project in each category.

The application deadline is November 1, 2026. Because the grants are awarded for projects that have yet to be created, the project description will be a key criterion in the assessment. It must clearly explain the project’s aims and, depending on the genre, its content, motifs, themes, subject matter and formal design. Completed works are not eligible.

The grants will be awarded on the recommendation of a specialist jury. Friederike Gösweiner received the prose grant and Emil Kaschka the drama grant for 2025 and 2026.
