A car towing a trailer skidded into a roadside ditch in Güttenbach in the district of Güssing on Friday, with both occupants escaping injury, ORF Burgenland reported.

The trailer came to rest beneath a high-voltage line, which Netz Burgenland had to switch off before recovery work could begin.

The Güssing fire brigade was called in with a crane vehicle. The vehicle combination was eventually recovered using the crane and the winch on Güttenbach’s tank fire engine. A total of 27 firefighters took part: 21 from Güttenbach with three vehicles and six from Güssing with two vehicles. Police and Netz Burgenland were also at the scene.
