Driver hits Kufstein construction pit after confusing pedals

A 76-year-old woman drove her car into a construction pit in Kufstein on Friday evening after mistaking the accelerator for the brake, ORF reported. She suffered shock and the crash caused property damage.

The Austrian woman was driving into the city on Salurner Straße at about 6.25pm when she touched the kerb. Startled, she accidentally pressed the accelerator.

The car suddenly accelerated, left the road, entered the construction pit and hit a street lamp.

The woman was taken to Kufstein District Hospital for medical checks. The car and the street lamp were damaged.
