A farm building in Feldkirchen, Carinthia, caught fire on Thursday evening, killing two calves, ORF reported. The building was already fully engulfed when emergency crews arrived, while other animals escaped to an adjoining pasture.

The two calves had been inside a pen and died in the flames. Firefighters extinguished the blaze at 8:50 p.m. A total of 127 responders attended with 16 vehicles from the volunteer fire brigades of Glanhofen, Ossiach, Feldkirchen, St. Martin, Radweg and Waiern.

Fire crews from Glanhofen and Radweg remained on watch because embers were still smouldering in hay bales. The L47 Ossiacher-Tauern-Straße road was completely closed during the firefighting operation. Investigators are determining the cause of the fire.
