BR Radltour draws 3,200 spectators to Dorfen finish

The BR Radltour received an enthusiastic welcome in Dorfen, where 3,200 people cheered the riders as they crossed the finish line, BR reported.

The fifth and penultimate stage started in Rosenheim at 9:30 a.m. Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann of the CSU rode at the front of the field. After a drinking stop in Maxlrain, the cyclists continued to Ebersberg.

They took their lunch break at the festival grounds, where the local folk festival is due to begin the following day. Mayor Ulrich Proske described the event as a rehearsal for the festival, with around 60 people involved, many of them volunteers.

Before the riders set off again, police officers accompanying the tour performed three rewritten songs for the participants. Herrmann joined in and received a standing ovation after thanking the Bavarian police for their work on the tour and their commitment to public safety.

The riders then faced three steep climbs before completing the 84-kilometre stage, the shortest of this year’s tour, at 4:30 p.m. The day will end with a free open-air concert by ClockClock, presented by Bayern 3.

The final stage on Friday will run from Dorfen via Winhöring and Simbach am Inn to Bad Füssing.
