Car hits Innsbruck pedestrian; dog later dies after motorcycle crash

ORF reported that a 60-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Innsbruck on Wednesday. Her dog ran away after the crash and was struck by a motorcycle shortly afterwards. The animal later died despite veterinary treatment.

According to police, the local woman was crossing a pedestrian crossing in Schillerstraße with her dog on a leash at about 5 p.m. At the same time, a 70-year-old local man was driving from Claudiaplatz into Schillerstraße.

The car hit the woman and knocked her to the ground. Emergency responders provided initial treatment before she was taken to hospital.

The dog ran away following the collision. Shortly afterwards, a motorcyclist hit the animal and, according to police, was unable to avoid it.

A witness immediately took the dog to a veterinarian, but it died despite treatment.
