Salzburg finalises plans for Paris Saint-Germain Aston Villa clash

Salzburg has completed preparations for the UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa, with up to 25,000 football fans expected in the city on August 12, ORF reported. The stadium is sold out.

The plans cover public viewing, fan zones, marches and road closures. The city and province, police, other emergency organisations, UEFA and the Salzburg Festival have coordinated mobility and event arrangements for the past six months.

Fans will have separate meeting points: Aston Villa supporters at Kapitelplatz square and Paris Saint-Germain supporters at Alten Markt square. The general public viewing zone will be at Residenzplatz square, where about 2,000 people can watch the match on a large screen.

Depending on the situation, Rudolfskai in the city centre may be closed between noon and 8 p.m. Buses operated by the public transport association and Salzburg Linien will then run according to a special timetable similar to the one used during the Salzburg Marathon.

No organised fan marches from the city centre to the stadium are planned. Paris Saint-Germain is planning only a short march from Martin Luther-Platz in the Taxham district to the south side of the stadium in nearby Kleßheim.

Parking directly at the stadium will not be possible. Organisers are strongly advising visitors to use public transport or park at the Park and Ride facilities at Airport Center or the exhibition centre. The stadium will open at 6 p.m., with kick-off scheduled for 9 p.m.
